High Standards: Academic Goal-Setting to Reach Success. The Elizabeth Edwards Foundation helps students obtain academic achievement to reach their full potential. Upon joining the Elizabeth Fellows Program, each student commits to high standards of academic success throughout the program.
Fellows and Mentors will set goals based on each Fellow’s unique strengths, and create an individual development plan to reach these goals during the school year. That discussion will continued throughout the student’s four years in the program, to ensure that the goals remain appropriate and that Fellows have the support they need to meet those goals.
Academic Tutoring: Here to Help. Fellows and Mentors will communicate openly about academic progress throughout the program. If academic challenges arise, we provide the resources to ensure Fellows can address the issues immediately. Mentors are enlisted to be advocates for their Fellow, reaching out to teachers for specific guidance and searching for supplemental support if necessary.
Fellows will be required to receive one-on-one tutoring in any subject area in which they are receiving lower than a B average. Optional tutoring will also be available for any Fellow who wants extra help in other subject areas. Tutoring will continue until the Fellow is back on track and the Fellow and Mentor both feel comfortable with the Fellow’s progress.
Filling the Toolbox: Giving Fellows What They Need to Succeed. In addition, Fellows will be armed with proper pre-college advising that is vital for success in today’s education world. A few tools that Fellows will have access to upon enrollment in the program include:
By providing these essential tools for college planning, the Program educates, enriches and empowers Fellows to work hard and make their dream of a college education a reality.
